You can learn a lot about epoxy floors from videos, but there is a limit. Sooner or later you need to run a grinder, mix a real batch, and have someone who has done hundreds of floors tell you what you are doing wrong. That is what in-person epoxy training events are for.
Ontario has a hands-on epoxy course in the GTA this fall, plus two of the biggest construction and concrete trade shows in the country coming up over the winter. Whether you are just getting into coatings or you already run crews and want to see what is new, here is what is on the calendar:
Upcoming Epoxy Training and Events in Ontario
XPS Toronto 3-Day Full Epoxy Flooring Training Course
- Dates: October 16-18, 2026 (8 AM to 4 PM daily)
- Location: 90 Nolan Ct, Unit 36, Markham, Ontario
- Investment: $1,495 CAD (second ticket 10% off)
- Class size: Max 30 students
Why It’s Worth Your Time: This is the main hands-on epoxy course in Ontario. Over three full days at the Xtreme Polishing Systems training facility in Markham, you work with flake, metallic, quartz and polyaspartic systems yourself, not just watch a demo. The course covers surface prep and grinding, moisture testing, crack repair, broadcast flake, metallic and quartz floors, polyaspartic topcoats and cove base. There is also time on product selection, tools, pricing and marketing, which is where a lot of new installers struggle.
All materials, tools, breakfast and lunch are included. You leave with a certification, lifetime support from the XPS team and access to their contractor WhatsApp group. This session is coming up fast, so if you want in, book now.
Construct Canada at The Buildings Show 2026
- Dates: December 2-4, 2026
- Location: Metro Toronto Convention Centre, 255 Front St W, Toronto
- Admission: Expo registration has usually been free when booked ahead. Check the official site for current pricing and conference passes.
Why It’s Worth Your Time: This is not a training course, but it is one of the best ways to learn what is out there. Construct Canada is part of The Buildings Show, one of the largest building industry events in North America. You can compare products for concrete repair, waterproofing, floor coatings and decorative finishes, and talk to manufacturers and distributors face to face.
It is also a good place to meet the general contractors, architects and facility managers who hire flooring subs on commercial and industrial jobs. If you install epoxy or polished concrete and want to move into ICI work, this is the room to be in. Many of the seminars also count toward continuing education credits.
Canadian Concrete Expo 2027
- Dates: February 10-11, 2027 (Wed 9 AM to 5 PM, Thu 9 AM to 3 PM)
- Location: The International Centre, 6900 Airport Road, Mississauga
- Admission: Show floor and demos come with show admission. Conference sessions need a separate registration.
Why It’s Worth Your Time: The Canadian Concrete Expo is the country’s main trade show for the concrete industry. If you coat or polish concrete, the slab is where your job starts, so it pays to know what is new in concrete products and methods. The show floor has a live equipment and product demo area, so you can see grinders and tools working before you buy them.
A conference program runs alongside the show with sessions on construction methods, new technology and infrastructure. It is a solid trip for flooring and coating installers, decorative and polishing crews, and anyone planning a big equipment purchase.
A Few Things to Keep in Mind
Hands-on training gives you something online content can’t: real reps on real floors, with someone next to you when things go sideways. You learn to fix problems before they cost you a job, and you get to ask the questions that only come up when you are halfway through a metallic pour.
A few practical notes before you book:
- Hands-on courses have small class sizes and fill up. If you have a date in mind, register early.
- Trade shows and training do different jobs. A course builds your install skills. A show helps you compare products, find suppliers and meet the people who hire subs. Doing both is a good mix.
- Beginners are welcome at the XPS course. You don’t need any experience to sign up.
- We update this page as new Ontario courses are announced, so check back before you plan your next one.
