Coating Application Specialist/Bridge Painter

Liberty Blastech JV ULC is seeking a Coating Application Specialist/Bridge Painter for a large bridge project in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

Compensation: $36.40/hour | Status: Full-Time, Permanent | Hours: 60 hrs/week (10hr days, 6 days)
Location: 30 Faulkner Street, Harbourview, Dartmouth, NS B3A 2Z9

Duties

• Apply protective bridge coating systems: inorganic zinc, organic zinc, epoxies, urethanes, polysiloxanes, moisture-cured systems, intumescent coatings on structural steel, concrete coatings, and metalizing
• Perform abrasive blasting operations using recyclable/expendable blast media
• Install platforms, shields, rigging, and scaffolding within safety standards
• Conduct containment activities and hazardous waste disposal
• Prepare surfaces using metal finishing tools, mechanized painting equipment, and water/vapor/vacuum blasting
• Apply paint, metal coatings and other materials using specialized equipment
• Ensure coatings are correctly applied to minimize corrosion risk
• Follow site safety plans, quality control processes, and hazard assessments

Requirements

• Experience with abrasive blasting, lead abatement, and coating applications on complex structures (preferred)
• Experience with rigging, platform installation, and scaffolding on complex bridge projects (preferred)
• Experience with specialized surface preparation equipment (power tool cleaning, water jetting, vapor/vacuum blasting)
• Experience with bridge rehabilitation projects (asset)
• High school diploma preferred or equivalent vocational experience
