J. Mason Contracting Ltd. is a locally owned construction company operating in Atlantic Canada for over 40 years. We specialize in concrete restoration, specialty demolition, waterproofing systems, traffic deck membranes, and exterior building envelope repairs.
We are seeking an experienced Specialty Concrete Technician. This position is for someone who can do layout, build and strip formwork, install reinforcing steel, place concrete, and finish concrete to a high standard. This is a skilled trade role—not general labour.
Compensation

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Layout and preparation from drawings and site direction
- Formwork construction, installation, bracing, stripping, and repair
- Installing reinforcing steel (rebar tying, dowels, embeds, anchors)
- Concrete removal using chippers, jackhammers, and specialty demolition tools
- Placing, consolidating, screeding, and hand and machine finishing concrete
- Surface preparation including sandblasting and patch preparation
- Preparing substrates for waterproofing membranes and coatings
- Applying concrete repair materials and protective coatings
- Working independently or as part of a crew to meet quality and schedule requirements
- Operating equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, scissor lifts, and boom lifts
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe worksite
Requirements
- Proven experience with formwork, rebar installation, concrete placement, and finishing
- Ability to perform layout and work from drawings or site instructions
- Strong understanding of concrete tolerances, finish standards, and quality control
- Physically capable of demanding construction work
- Willingness to work 40+ hours per week, with occasional evenings or weekends
- Ability to travel occasionally throughout the Maritimes
- Valid driver’s license is an asset
