Getting good at epoxy floor coatings takes more than watching a few YouTube videos. At some point, you need to get your hands on a grinder, mix a real batch of product, and work through problems with someone who’s already made all the mistakes. That’s where in-person training comes in.
Alberta has a solid lineup of practical courses running from March through July 2026, mostly out of Edmonton and Calgary. You might be building a new business, adding services to an existing one, or just tired of learning on the job. Whatever your situation, there is a course here that fits. Here is what is coming up:
YEG Epoxy Training Seminar
- Dates: March 7–8, 2026
- Location: YEG Epoxy Supplies, Edmonton, Alberta
- Investment: $500 CAD
Why It’s Worth Your Time: This two-day seminar out of Edmonton is one of the more complete offerings on the list. You’ll cover surface prep and concrete grinding, mixing and application for epoxy, polyaspartic, and polyurea systems, decorative flake, metallic techniques, and professional topcoat finishing. There’s also a dedicated block on the business side (pricing, marketing, and selling your services), which many training courses skip entirely.
All materials are included, and you’ll have access to products from Lab Surface, OL Loggin, and MPC Coatings during the course. Spots run at $500 CAD and include ongoing technical support after you finish. Good value for two full days.
Xtreme Polishing Systems 3-Day Weekend Epoxy Course — April 24–26
- Dates: April 24–26, 2026
- Location: Calgary, Alberta
Why It’s Worth Your Time: Xtreme Polishing Systems runs its three-day intensive out of Calgary, and it covers a serious amount of ground. Metallic epoxy, decorative flake, quartz, glitter, and countertops, all the major systems are on the table, giving you the range to take on different job types right away. All materials and tools are provided, breakfast and lunch are included, and you walk out with a certification.
The lifetime expert support and access to a dedicated WhatsApp group are genuinely useful perks. Real job questions get answered fast when you have a direct line to your trainers. A strong pick for anyone ready to build a proper floor coatings business.
Xtreme Polishing Systems 3-Day Weekend Epoxy Course — May 22–24
- Dates: May 22–24, 2026
- Location: Calgary, Alberta
Why It’s Worth Your Time: Same course, same curriculum, just a later date. The May session lands over a long weekend, so it’s easy to fit in without burning through a full work week. If the April session fills up or the timing doesn’t work, this one’s the natural backup. Three days, full hands-on training, certification included.
Xtreme Polishing Systems 3-Day Weekend Epoxy Course — June 18–20
- Dates: June 18–20, 2026
- Location: Calgary, Alberta
Why It’s Worth Your Time: June is a smart time to train. You’re heading into the heart of summer with a certification in hand and a full season of work still ahead of you. This session follows the same intensive format as the April and May courses, all systems covered, tools provided, breakfast and lunch included. Getting trained up in June means you’re immediately putting those skills to work.
Xtreme Polishing Systems 3-Day Weekend Epoxy Course — July 24–26
- Dates: July 24–26, 2026
- Location: Calgary, Alberta
Why It’s Worth Your Time: The last session in this run lands at the end of July. It’s a good fit for anyone who needs time to save up, sort out childcare, or wrap up a busy stretch before committing to a full weekend of training. By late July, you’d still have the rest of summer and all of fall to put the new skills to work. Same three-day program, same certification, same support network.
A Few Things to Keep in Mind
In-person training gives you something that online content can’t: actual reps on real floors, with someone standing next to you when things go sideways. You’ll learn how to troubleshoot problems before they cost you a job, handle product in real conditions, and ask questions that only come up when you’re elbow-deep in a metallic pour.
A few practical notes before you book:
- Spots fill fast, especially for weekend courses that are easy to schedule around existing work commitments. If you have a date in mind, register early.
- Both cities have options. Edmonton has the YEG Epoxy Seminar in March. Calgary has four Xtreme Polishing sessions spread across spring and summer, so you can pick based on timing, not just location.
- Beginners are welcome at all of these courses. You don’t need prior experience to register.
